project 1 proposal

Looking back at my proposal (below) after class today... i am thinking I may just experiment with the camera and have fun with it rather than making a story...

or...

if i move this weekend, i will film that.
in any case, here is the proposal i was thinking about yesterday:

Project #1 Proposal

In camera editing. create a video portrait using in camera editing techniques. 1-3 minutes. each student will create their own project.

I am thinking about having this be about 3 women... Jane, Rocio, and my sister. All three girls have been asked to participate in doing this, and all responded that they would love to do this. I am thinking about having certain themes in the video:

each girl is asked to bring favorite books or some of her favorite things to interact with. She will be doing some of the things that i will ask of her...

A story of 3 women. opening credit.
Produced and Directed by Paris Marashi. (Holding up Paper that says this.)

Thoughts can be shown with words written on paper.
Throughout the whole video, the girls are encouraged to write their thoughts (with a fat, fat sharpie) on white sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper.


this will act as a transition from part to part.
each girl can draw/write whatever she wants, or nothing at all. (tabala rasa)

just some ideas... not set in stone at all!

starts with a girl waking up, and ends with all the three girls going to bed.

if a girl feels very passionately about saying something, she is encouraged to do so.... only if she really feels it.

show the alarm clock.

show the alarm clock one hour later (just change the time)

show the alarm clock 2 hours later....or show the time as it is changing (give the illusion, someone press the minute button, etc)

each girl is asked to bring her favorite things to interact with... and a favorite book. I am looking forward to just spending the day with 3 girls that i really love a lot and just having fun with this project. their input will change how it goes and what comes out of it.
The ideas above are just sketches. Ultimately we will inspire each other throughout the course of 3 hours.
